Careers Workshop – Free Local Event for High-School Students!
Hi everyone! I’m Katherine, and I’m part of Team Avispas from Youth of Ōrākei — a youth council proudly supported by the Ōrākei Local Board. We’re a group of 28 young leaders dedicated to inspiring, representing, and connecting youth in our community through exciting initiatives like this one.
We’re excited to be hosting a Careers Workshop Event for high-school students, designed to help young people explore their future study and career options. The event will feature five guest speakers, including high school career advisors, university students, and professionals from a range of industries such as law, engineering, business and medicine.
The session will be structured like a panel, where the speakers will answer questions from both students and us, the organisers, one by one. This will give attendees a chance to hear a wide range of perspectives and advice in an open, conversational format. Students will have the opportunity to ask questions about university applications, studying at university, and exploring different career pathways. Additionally, we will provide a CV check-up booth where students can receive assistance with their CVs.
Event Details:
Date: Saturday, July 19
Time: 1:15 PM – 3:15 PM
Location: Somervell Presbyterian Church Hall - 497 Remuera Road, Remuera
This is a great opportunity for teens to ask questions, get advice, and feel more confident about their next steps after school. We’d love your help spreading the word — share with any students, friends, or family who might be interested! Hope to see you there!
